Debrecen Autumn Festival

For more than 20 years the Debrecen Festival is one of the defining cultural events of the year, bringing interesting programs for all ages from 10th to 18th November.

Husbands and Wives (a comedy by Woody Allen)

One of the highlights of the event is the play and comedy based on Woody Allen’s iconic film classic “Husbands and Wives”, and will be staged by Junior Prima Award-winning actors. The topic, of course, is love, and when to look for a new love.

Location: Kölcsey Center, Great Hall, 10 November 2019, 7 PM

Night of András Berecz and his friends

Drawing on ancient Greek literacy and New Greek folk art, András Berecz’s new show debuted in the spring of 2019. It is about divine harmony and human instincts in tale, music, and dance while revealing why today’s European culture is worthy. It is an event with a story, a song, but also music and beautiful Greek male dances. Most of the songs are from early 20th century collections, including a 1905 Istanbul phonograph, a song by an illiterate Vurla dockworker, and a New York emigrant from 1917.

The Grönholm Method

It is a fantastic show about a job interview. Four applicants – three men and one woman – are interviewed by a multinational company to find a commercial director. They’ve passed through the previous tests and this one is the final one. However, candidates have to deal with rather unusual tasks, rather than traditional interviews, creating increasingly bizarre and tense situations … What are they willing to give up in order to get a job?

The exhibition of János Komiszár, entitled Doubts, and Certainty, focuses on the joy of life along with its humming colors and glow. The exhibition will be on view at the Kölcsey Center from 12 to 14 November.

Location: Kölcsey Center, 12-14 November

Margaret Island concert in symphonic orchestra

Margaret Island’s hits and latest compositions will be performed in symphonic orchestration during the 2019 Tour of the Silence. The orchestra will feature symphonic orchestral performances at renowned venues along with the Heureka Pop Orchestra as part of the Silence Tour.

Location: Kölcsey Center, Great Hall, 13 November 2019, 7 PM

Second music stand up night of Ádám Bőzse

The music stand up night lets visitors laugh at the pantry act of operas, the crazy names of opera actors, and the fact that there is comedy and misunderstanding in this difficult world of fringe …The content is brand new, but the format remains the same: plenty of one-hour, sour, real “whimsical” humor, primarily from the classical music world and from his own stories. A great event, not only for hard-core music lovers.

Killer Queen – Queen Show from London

It would be difficult to highlight just one of the Queen’s songs, as each is a separate icon. However, the Killer Queen itself is a separate star, so it’s not surprising that one of the best Queen imitators has put the name Killer Queen on the stage. A long-time favorite of the American and English audiences will bring a real Queen experience to the Hungarian audience. The Killer Queen show features legendary songs that everyone knows and loves, turning the stage to a true Queen concert.

The Killer Queen band was formed in June 1993. They first performed publicly at the University of London, just like the real Queen 21 years before. By 1995, the popularity of the Killer Queen had grown so much that their performance was broadcast by the BBC at the London Beach Theater. The band became more and more famous both in England and abroad. In 1999, after a tour in Europe and Russia, they returned to the Leicester Square awards, where they received the award for the best memory band. The music charts came to the forefront when they performed the Queen’s “The Real Life” with Fatboy Slim in 2001.
